Uttar Pradesh Congress will hold state-wide protests from June 8 to 11 against the state government's decision to hike power tariff.
"The decision to hike power tariff by 40 per cent is unjustified and Congress would stage protest demonstrations at all district headquarters against it between June 8 and 11," CLP leader Pradeep Mathur said.
He said instead of distributing laptops to students for vote-bank politics, the state government should utilise the funds for improving basic facilities like power.
He also blamed the previous Mayawati-led BSP government of leaving a power debt burden of Rs 25,000 crore.
