A constable was sent to 14 days of judicial custody for his alleged involvement in the escape of an undertrial from court compound here last week.

Constable Ratan Singh had surrendered in the court after the incident and was sent to jail yesterday.

"Undertrial Pradeep Rathore, a resident of village Harnath Ka pura falling under Kotwali Bhind, was arrested by Highway police for his alleged involvement in the loot and vehicle lifting case," an FIR filed by SI Anil Vermasaid.

Rathore was broughtto appear before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajveer Singh on November 17, following which he managed to flee from the compound due to "carelessness" of the constable, Verma said.

Taking exception to the conduct of the constable, the Chief Judicial Magistrate sent the constable to jail, police said.
