Two police constables allegedly looted Rs 40,000 from the contractor of a brick-kiln here in Etah district, police said today.
The incident happened when a contractor Pappu, a resident of village Basaria in Hardoi district, had gone with some labourers at the brick-kiln in village Gadua under Pilua police station on Sunday.
"He was returning after taking Rs 40,000 from the brick-kiln owner when he was stopped by two motorcyclist-borne policemen in Etah in the name of checking," a police officer said today.

Claiming that he was being called by his senior, the policemen carried him away along with the tempo he was travelling by and escaped after leaving him near Shikohabad road, he said.
Later, the contractor and the brick-kiln owner reached the Etah city police station, where the inspector asked them to identify the accused, but they failed to do, he added.
However, some constables, who were on leave, did not return today.
Police had to lodge an FIR in this connection on the basis of contractor's complaint against two unidentified police constables, Etah police station Inspector Ghan Shyam Singh told PTI today.
No arrest has been made so far and police are investigating the matter, he said.
