Chairing a meeting on the dedicated frieght corridor project, he said it was an important project of the Centre for development of infrastructure sector in which 1841 kilometre- long railway track would be laid from Ludhiana in Punjab to Dankuni in West Bengal.
Usmani said the project would pass through 19 districts of Uttar Pradesh, after which there was a possibility of an investment of Rs 20,000 crore in the state.
He directed that during execution of the project, trees should be fell only in unavoidable circumstances.
The chief secretary directed that cases of power overhead crossing should be disposed off immediately and concerned department should deposit money.
Secretary PWD Sanjeev Kumar said the scheme was funded by the World Bank.
The project with an estimated cost of Rs 30,000 crore is targetted to be completed by December 2016.
