District authorities have diverted traffic on the highway to another road to avoid inconvenience.

"Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda has turned down the appeal to allow UP farmers to sell their produce in Haryana. If he continues to stick to his stand, then we will have to go for a bigger protest," BKU's national spokesperson Rakesh Tikait said.

"It is learnt that tractors and other vehicles loaded with wheat are being intercepted by authorities when they are on their way to Haryana Mandi. This will not be tolerated," he said.

Meanwhile, in an attempt to appease the agitating farmers, the UP government has proposed to purchase their wheat by establishing purchasing centres on the spot, officials said. PTI Corr HU
