Raising question marks on the functioning of his own government, senior UP minister Mohd Azam Khan has accused the state Finance Department of creating "unnecessary hurdles" in execution of development projects.

In a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Javed Usmani yesterday, the Urban Development Minister alleged the Finance Department was creating unnecessary hurdles in construction of Haj House in Ghaziabad for the past two years.

"The Finance Department has crossed the limit of creating hurdles by unnecessary remarks (on files) and stopping development works of the Urban Development Department... Till the Finance Department continues to create hurdles no development work could be done and due to this the state of affairs has become bad to worse here," Khan said.

Khan said the construction work of Haj House in Ghaziabad could be completed yet though the project was announced 10 years ago, along with another Haj House in Lucknow.

"Now, the Ghaziabad Haj House in being constructed by the Haj committee with its own resources, but its has become difficult to complete it," he said.

"Now the Haj committee is not interested in constructing the Haj House and its incomplete building with land could be used for other purpose... By the remarks made by the Fiance Department it appears that the Haj committee is comprised of a gang of thieves, which did not have right to create religious harmony with the help of the government," Khan said.

Khan was recently in news when his personal secretaries requested transfer alleging him of using "abusive language". Earlier, Khan had skipped national executive meet of the SP in Agra as he was "unhappy" with functioning of the state government.
