UP gets rains

rain occurred in both western and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh today as rivers continued their rising trend in the state.

Bijnore, Iglas, Garotha, Baberu, Balrampur, Sirathu, Hapur, Jasrana and Mathura received rain, the Met office said.

The Central Water Commission bulletin here said that river Ganga was on the rising trend from Fatehgarh to Phaphamau and Ramganga was rising at Dabri.

Sharda at Palia Kalan, Ghaghra at Elgin Bridge, Ayodhya and Turtipar, Rapti at Balrampur and Burrhi Rapti at Kakrahi were still flowing above the danger mark, the bulletin said.

Meanwhile, a report from Farrukhabad said that the rising water levels of Ganga and Ramganga has submerged agriculture fields of about half a dozen villages in Shamshabad area and transport link has been adversely affected with villages of the trans-Ganga areas.
