UP govt asks officials to beef up security ahead of festivals

Uttar Pradesh government today directed senior police officials, including respective district police chiefs, to beef up security ahead of Diwali and Moharram in the state.

State Director General of Police A L Bannerji today asked the officials concerned to ensure that the police force in their respective areas remain prepared to deal with law and order challenges in a professional manner in view of the coming festival season, a release issued by the DGP office here said.

The DGP, while stressing the need for practice of the force in dealing with mob fury and other such challenges arising out of any untoward incident, said that officials concerned would be briefed for the same in their respective areas on coming Friday too.
 

After the briefing, a practice session of riot drill and anti-riot scheme would also be conducted in which they would practice how to run anti-riot gun, tear gas gun and tear smoke grenade, the release added.
