Principal Secretary Home R M Srivastava has directed the district magistrates, DIGs and SPs to carry out the drive from May 7 to May 25, official sources said here.
He has directed that inspection and verification of manufacturing units, storage, sale and purchase of explosive materials should be done on a priority basis.
After the drive, the DMs have been directed to send their reports to IG (crime) by May 28.
The directive has been issued following incidents of explosions due to fire-crackers in different districts of the state.
On April 24 six persons, including two children, were killed and two others injured in an explosion in a cracker shop in Shahjahanpur district.
Similarly, on April 23 while four persons were killed in an explosion in Hardoi district, a woman was killed in blast in Kanpur. PTI AVA PG
