UP govt dispatches relief material for quake victims in Nepal

Uttar Pradesh government today sent 28 trucks carrying relief material for earthquake victims in Nepal.

The trucks, flagged off by the Minister for Political Pensions Rajendra Chaudhary, carry potable water and dry food items, an official spokesman said.

Earlier too, the government had sent relief materials loaded in trucks, of which 18 carrying medicines among other things have already reached the Indian High Commission in Nepal, the spokesman said.

As many as 82 buses have also been sent to the Himalayan nation to assist in rescue operations and ferry people to safer places, the spokesman said, adding that 18 more buses are being sent there.
 

Bus service between Gorakhpur and Nepal has also been started.

Besides, a team of 45 doctors along with paramedical staff have reached Bharatpur Medical College, Nepal and started providing medical aid to the victims.

Relief camps have been set up in the border districts of Gorakhpur, Lakhimpur Kheri and Mahrajganj, the spokesman said, adding that government has also decided to provide conveyance to the people of Nepali origin living in the state and others wishing to go to the affected areas for distributing relief material.
