"A detailed order has been issued by the government directing police and administration officers concerned to maintain law and order," Principal Secretary Home, R M Srivastava, told reporters here.
"Besides, I will also hold review meetings with the DGP, ADGs Prosecution and Prison on June 2 in Varanasi, followed by one in Gorakhpur in June 3," he said.
With a view to create a positive atmosphere in the state for investments and industrial development, Srivastava said, district magistrates and police chiefs would be held responsible if cases of extortion by businessmen came to light in their districts.
Directives have also been issued to check illegal mining, liquor smuggling, human trafficking, circulation of fake currency notes and to lodge FIRs in such cases to ensure strict action, he said.
"In case of communal tension or riots, district magistrates concerned and SPs would be held responsible and strict action would be initiated against them," the official said.
