UP govt mulling to start air ambulance service

In a bid to provide faster medical assistance to critical patients and accident victims, the Uttar Pradesh government is contemplating to start air ambulance service soon.

"The government is contemplating to start air ambulance service from 2017 to provide timely medical aid to critically ill patients," UP minister Shiv Pratap Yadav told reporters here today.

He said that the existing 108 and 102 ambulance services have yielded good response and succeeded in saving many lives.

"UP will be the first state to start air ambulance services in the country. The Chief Minister is looking at the aspect to ensure its availability to poor at subsidised rates," he added.
 

According to Yadav, initially it would be started in select cities and later would be expanded.
