The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday decided to amend the Uttar Pradesh Right to Information Rules 2019, proposing that only information in the files will be given out by the government.
The amendment in the rule was passed at the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
"Many times in an RTI query, imaginary information is sought which is not mentioned in the file. Now only that information will be shared which is in the file," UP government spokesman Shrikant Sharma said.
This is the first amendment in the Uttar Pradesh Right to Information Rule 2019, an official statement said.
When asked how will an applicant know what is written in a file, Sharma said, "It would become clear in the reply.
