The district administration today announced that ten 'subsidised good quality daal' counters have been opened here, in the wake of the spiraling rates of pulses across the country.

The pulses will be available at Rs 150 per kg at these counters, as against the market price of Rs 200 per kg.

"The 10 special subsidised good quality 'Daal' counters have been opened in the city. These have got good response from people. We hope it will benefit thousands of families in coming days," District Magistrate Rajshekhar said.

The Lucknow Daal and Rice millers Association have assured the administration that even if the market prices of pulses go up, they will not increase the cost of the pulses at these special counters, he said.

On the other hand, we will reduce the pulse rates if there is such a drop in the market, the DM said.

The counters are expected to run till the market prices of pulses come down considerably.

Around 1,500 kgs of Daal is kept as stock at each of these special counters, the official added.
