Taking a strong note of the alleged gangrape and subsequent death of a 16-year-old girl to take revenge of her mother's victory in the recently-concluded panchayat polls, UP government today ordered a magisterial probe into the incident and suspended the concerned police station incharge.

"The magisterial probe of the incident in Mirzapur has been ordered by the District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar SIngh," IG, Law and order A Satish Ganesh said.

The police station incharge of Padari, Atmaram Yadav who was charged of laxity has been suspended, he said.

In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide after being kidnapped and gang-raped by two men in Mirzapur, who held a grudge against her mother after their defeat in the panchayat polls in the district.

Unable to bear the humiliation of gang-rape and subsequent apathy of police, who had allegedly refused to register a case after the rape, the class 11 girl had hanged herself on December 25.

The two accused Pappu Bahelia and Bindu Bahelia were arrested by the police under various sections of IPC and POCSO Act 2012 after the girl's death.

Meanwhile, a release issued by state government later in the evening today said, "Post mortem by a panel of two doctors did not confirm rape. Slides have been sent for further examination".
