UP govt orders probe into medical entrance test-paper leak

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today directed a probe by a high-level committee into the alleged Combined Pre-Medical Test (CPMT) paper leak which led to its cancellation even as BJP demanded a CBI investigation into the issue.

"The Chief Minister has directed Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan to constitute a high-level committee to probe the paper leak and cancellation of CPMT," an official statement said.

The Chief Minister also directed that stern action be taken against those involved "in playing with the future of children".

Meanwhile, BJP state president Laxmi Kant Bajpai demanded a CBI probe into the issue.

"On whose order the papers were kept in the strong rooms of banks without CCTVs, when there is a rule and tradition that they are kept in the strong room of government treasury," he said
 

Bajpai also demanded that transport allowance, food and lodgings should be provided to the applicants when the exam is held again.

"This amount should later be realissed from those found guilty," he said.
