UP govt seeks Rs 18,000 crore from Centre

The Uttar Pradesh government today sought release of pending grants of Rs 18,000 crore from the Centre for various schemes.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Deepak Singhal met P K Mishra, Cabinet Secretary and Nripendra Mishra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking early release of funds.

During the interaction, Singhal said the Uttar Pradesh government is yet to receive central grant for its various schemes worth Rs 18,000 crore, official sources said here.

Singhal also raised the issue of utilisation certificates submitted by the state governments pending for clearance.

The state government said its share in the central sales tax was still pending which should be released at the earliest, the sources said.
 

There was an agreement that both the Centre and the state government should work together on projects related to coal, power, highways and defence so that issues are expedited and development takes place at a faster pace.
