"SP which came to power on the assurance of fighting corruption is now shielding corrupt and tainted officials," BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak told reporters here.

He said the comment of the Allahabad High Court on posting of some officials on various posts in Noida raises questions over working of the state government system.

In an indictment of the Akhilesh Yadav regime for reappointing tainted officials on plum posts in the Noida Authority, the high court on Tuesday had launched an inquiry into the loss incurred by the exchequer in allotment of plots.

The HC also appointed a court commissioner to conduct the probe.

The court had expressed surprise that officials who were facing departmental probe for irregularities in allotting plots were appointed again on the same posts.

"When the probe against these officials is pending, how can they be appointed in the same place and on the same posts?...Are these officials born only to serve in Noida?" the court had asked while hearing a PIL challenging their appointment.

Pathak alleged a senior IAS official, who was key accused in NRHM scam, rejoined services immediately after being released from jail on bail.

"The government must tell the reasons due to which the official was not suspended despite being in the jail for over three months," he said.

He alleged that why the government was in the state of confusion in giving prosecution sanction against doctors accused in NRHM scam.

Pathak said, "SP had promised that officials involved in corruption would be identified and stern action taken. Corrupt officials would be jailed. Therefore the government should act according to its promise."
