Uttar Pradesh government today suspended superintendent of Mirzapur prison after prohibited and objectionable items were recovered from the jail during a recent surprise inspection, a senior officer said.
Superintendent of Mirzapur jail Avinash Gautam has been suspended and during suspension period he would remain attached with prison office, Allahabad, Secretary (Home) Kamal Saxena told reporters here.
During inspection of the jail on June 24 by officers of additional district magistrate and deputy SP rank, mobile phone, sim card, charger, ear phone, battery, equipments to cook food and other objectionable and prohibited items were recovered.
He said that taking serious note of anomalies, action was taken by the government.
