UP govt to conduct probe into delay in fund utilisation

The Uttar Pradesh government today said that an inquiry would be conducted into the delay in utilisation of funds received from the Centre under the police modernisation scheme.

The Leader of the UP Legislative Council, Ahmad Hasan, said this in reply to a written question by BJP leader Hriday Narain Dixit during the Question Hour.

Dixit asked how much fund was received from the Centre in the financial year 2012-13 for police modernisation, and how much of it had been utilised.

In reply, Hasan said Rs 32.1 crore was received from the Centre, of which Rs 3.53 crore was directly allocated to the Ordinance Factory Board for purchase of weapons.
 

He said Rs 1.43 crore was released for the home guard department, Rs 9.14 crore was used for purchase of equipment, and Rs 17.99 crore remained unused.

Asked about the reason behind the delay in utilisation of funds, Hasan said an inquiry by a senior officer would be conducted to ascertain to cause of the delay.
