Principal Secretary (Medical and Health) Sanjay Agarwal gave the undertaking to the bench comprising justices Imtiyaz Murtaza and Ashwani Kumar Singh after he was summoned for personal appearance.
After the government gave the undertaking, the court fixed August 29 as the next date of hearing.
Meanwhile, the CBI, in an affidavit, told the court that it would take 30 days more to complete the probe into alleged irregularities in procurement of medicines by the chief medical officer's office in Lucknow.
Earlier, the CBI had told the court that its request to give sanction to prosecute 34 doctors and other staff, including former CMO Lucknow A K Shukla, has been pending with the government since May this year.
On the CBI's submission, the court had summoned the principal secretary (medical and health) to appear in person.
