UP govt to identify disputed sites in state

Close on the heels of Saharanpur incident, where three persons died in a communal clash over a disputed land, the Uttar Pradesh government today announced to identify the disputed sites in the state.

"Disputes sites in the state are being identified and efforts are being made to get the dispute resolved amicably. A circular in this regard has already been issued," IG (law and order) Amrendra Singh Sengar told reporter here.

At such places, sub divisional magistrates and circle officers are being sent to make effort to get the dispute resolved by holding meetings with the sides involved, he said.
 

On being asked about the number of such sites in the state, Sengar said that documentation was also being done.

"Reports are being sought from every district," he said.

Secretary (home) Rajeev Agarwal said the chief secretary had already directed to emphasis on micro policing.

"Proactive measures are being taken. For instance there was some trouble in Faizabad district, but it was handled immediately by the administration taking proactive measures," he said.
