The Uttar Pradesh government has asked all the 16 municipal corporations of the state to run a special campaign for catching stray animals, including cattle, and put them in designated shelter homes.

The shelter homes include the spacious Kanha Upvan and other gaushalas in the state.

The order, issued by special secretary and mission director Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Umesh Pratap Singh, also called for public co-operation in the drive.

Established on August 7, 2010, Kanha Upvan is a 54-acre wide animal shelter in the capital city here. It was built to provide shelter, medication and food to stray animals.
