The Yogi Adityanath government is not considering giving any allowance to unemployed youths and it will create jobs for them instead, Uttar Pradesh Labour and Employment Minister Swami Prasad Maurya said today.

During the Question Hour, when SP member Nitin Agarwal asked if the government was considering giving any allowance to jobless youths in Uttar Pradesh, Maurya said, "The unemployment allowance, which was one of the 2012 poll promises of the Samajwadi Party, was discontinued by the party itself in 2012-13.

"Our government will give jobs to youths... We are not considering giving any unemployment allowance."

The SP government gave a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 to unemployed youths, aged between 25 and 40 and belonging to families having an annual income not more than Rs 36,000.

"Our department helped 54,190 youths get jobs in the private sector in the last 11 months. For this, we have a portal on which more than 20 lakh youths have registered themselves," Maurya said.
