UP hikes ex-gratia to Rs5L for children killed by wild animals

The Uttar Pradesh government has hiked the ex-gratia given to the family members of children killed in attacks by wild animals to Rs five lakh.

Zoological Garden Minister S P Yadav today said that earlier an ex-gratia of Rs one lakh was given in case of an adult and Rs 50,000 in case of a child killed in an attack by a wild animal.

The amount has been hiked to Rs five lakh, he said.

The minister said that till now no compensation was given in case of death of a forest department employee by a wild animal or forest mafia.
 

The government has decided to give a compensation of Rs 10 lakh in such cases, he added.
