The opening day of the Winter Session of the Uttar Pradesh legislature got off to a stormy start, with the opposition forcing adjournment of both houses soon after it met for the day on Tuesday.
Opposition members created uproar in the state Assembly as soon as the House met this morning.
They raised various issues, particularly the law and order situation in the state and the ongoing protests against the amended Citizenship Act.
The Chair the adjourned proceedings for 15 minutes.
The scene was no different in the Legislative Council where angry opposition members protested vociferously leading to the adjournment of the Upper House briefly.
Earlier, Samajwadi Party members donning red party caps staged a protest in front of the statue of Chaudhary Charan Singh in Assembly premises and also sat on dharna holding placards denigrating the BJP government for its "anti-people policies".
