UP man gets 10-year jail for raping woman

A fast track court has sentenced a man to 10 years in prison for raping a woman at a village here in 2009.

Judge Punam Rajput also slapped a fine of Rs 3,000 on Ravikant, holding him guilty under IPC sections 376 (rape), 452 (house trespass with intent to assault), and related offences.

According to government lawyer Ritu Choudhary, Ravikant had entered the complainant's house in Sojani Tagan village on October 19, 2009 and raped her at gun-point.

He had also robbed Rs 65,000 from the complainant's house and threatened her with dire consequences, the lawyer said.
