UP: Man gets life term for shooting dead relative over land dispute

A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a sessions court here for gunning down a relative inside a tehsil compound due to a land dispute in 2013.

On Wednesday evening, district sessions judge Rajiv Kumar Sharma pronounced the verdict on Deepak after holding him guilty under IPC section 302 (murder) and also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000.

According to district government counsel Dushyant Tyagi, the victim Arun Kumar was gunned down by the convict while seated on the lawyer's seat in the tehsil compound in Khatoli town of the district on January 4, 2013.

A land dispute was stated to be the reason behind the murder, the counsel said.
