Raising the issue through a privilege notice, BSP member Lokesh Upadhyaya said that on May 26 he sought time from Inspector General of Police, Meerut, J L Tripathi to discuss crime situation in the district.
The member alleged that the next day when he went to meet the IG along with other prominent leaders and started discussion on increasing crime and other issues, Tripathi used derogatory words.
The BSP members alleged that the IG told him to get out thrice amounting to breach of his privilege and demanded appropriate action against him.
Leader of the Opposition Naseemuddin Siddiqui said the incident should be taken seriously and action taken against that person.
In his ruling, Chairman Ganesh Shanker Pandey directed the government to conduct an inquiry and inform the House at the earliest.
