Uttar Pradesh government today said it is contemplating implementing police commissioner system, which has given good results in other states, in UP.
"Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has given an indication to implement the police commissioner system in the state during his address in recently held police week... The system is implemented in big cities of 17 states and had good results," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Azam Khan said in reply to a question raised in state Assembly.
Khan said that the government would consider a proposal in this regard at the right time.
The question was raised by BJP member Shyamdeo Roy Chowdhry, who wanted to know from the government about plans to implement the police commissioner system to effectively check crime in the state.
