UP pension scheme extended to non-accredited scribes

The Uttar Pradesh government today directed that non-accredited journalists be also covered under a pension scheme for print and electronic media professionals in the state.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav directed that the scheme be extended to non-accredited and other accredited journalists who were so far not covered under the scheme operated by the Journalist Welfare Society, an official spokesperson said here.

Journalists will get benefits of this optional scheme upon completing conditions of Jeevan Dhara policy of LIC, he said.
