To preserve and maintain the honour of Sanskrit "the language of God", Uttar Pradesh government has decided to associate it with computers.

Distributing the Sanskrit Sansthanam awards for 2008, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said Sanskrit was like the spirit of the country that has to be connected in terms of technology.

Calling it the language of Vedas and of Gods, he said work will be done to associate it for operating computers.

The CM felicitated 24 scholars with different awards on the occasion and announced doubling of the cash prize of Sanskrit Sansthanam.

He alleged that the previous regime had stopped distribution of all awards related to Hindi and Sanskrit languages, which the SP government has restored.
