UP police identifies sensitive zones ahead of Kanwad yatra

Uttar Pradesh police has identified sensitive zones and districts to prevent incidents of communal clashes during "Kanwad yatra".

"In a bid to avoid recurrence of communal clashes, zonal IG's have been sent a list of sensitive zones and districts. They have been asked to hold meeting with respective SP's of their zones and give their reports by July 30," IG, law and order A Satish Ganesh told reporters here.

Kanwad yatra is taken in the month of Sawan, starting August 1 by devotees.

After a meeting of DGP Jagmohan Yadav with senior officers in this regard, he said that in the report previous incidents and reasons of clash like playing music on loudspeakers should be mentioned and preventive measures taken to avoid them.
 

About the sensitive districts, Ganesh said that Saharanpur, Baghpat, Moradabad, Bareilly of western UP are came in the category as they had history of clashes.

On other issues of the meeting, the officer said that DGP had directed IGs to monitor probe of incidents of double and triple murder and loots of over Rs 20 lakhs themselves.

The DGP said that for laxity in checking criminal incidents besides police station incharges, IGs would also be taken care of.

The DGP also directed IGs to check practice of rash/fast and drunken driving and ensure strict action and also take action under Gangster or Goonda act, if needed.
