In a bid to take along party veterans ahead of the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the ruling Samajwadi Party on Wednesday directed all its district units to invite founder district presidents and make them 'special invitees' in the party organisation.

"The party considers all its founder district presidents, who helped SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav to form the party in 1992, as its asset. A directive has been issued to make them special invitees in district units," party state president Shivpal Yadav said.

The party will be completing 24 years on November 4. We believe that due to the experience of these veterans, the party will be able to counter the 'communal forces' in the next elections, he added.
