UP reels under heat wave, mercury breaches past 47 degree C

Normal life was thrown out of gear in Uttar Pradesh due to heat wave as temperature in parts of the state breached 47 degree Celsius mark.

Allahabad recorded the highest day temperature at 47.6 degrees which was six notches above the normal level, followed by Banda at 47.2 degrees, according to a Meteorological department report.

The state capital Lucknow also experienced high temperature with maximum touching 45.7 degrees, six notches above normal, it said.

Varanasi and Sultanpur recorded 46.6 degrees, five notches above normal, Hamirpur recorded 46.2 degrees, Raebareli 45.6 degrees and Kanpur 45.6 degree Celsius.

The weatherman has forecast severe heat wave condition over the state tomorrow with maximum temperature of 46 degree Celsius.
