The riots in Western UP and the "role of some political parties" behind it will come for discussion tomorrow in the national office bearers' meeting of Janata Dal (United) which will also finalize the party's strategy for coming assembly polls in five states this year.
This will be the first meeting of JD (U) ever since JD(U) walked out of NDA on June 16 over Narendra Modi's elevation as BJP campaign committee chief bringing to an end their 17-year-long alliance. Ever since then, the two parties have been sparring.
A senior JD(U) leader speaking on the condition of anonymity said the riots in Mujaffarnagar is going to be one of the topics for discussion in the meeting of the national office bearers who will deliberate at length as to "why there was so much delay in controlling the riots initially" and "what role some parties played behind it".
Ever since parting of ways, BJP and JD (U) have been sparring in Parliament and outside on a number of issues.
The meeting will examine various political issues before the country and the role JD(U) has to play in the changed political circumstances, the sources said.
The other issues that will come up for discussion are price rise and how to fight assembly elections in the five states.
While party President Sharad Yadav will chair the meeting, it will be attended by state JD (U) chiefs of Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram.
From Bihar where it is the ruling party, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's close aide R C P Singh and Shyam Razak, among others, will attend the meeting.
