The accused Ashu alias Ashwani Tiwari(35), was on the run since the murder of one Mamta alias Lata at a lodge here on March 6, Additional SP Manoj Rai told reporters.
The accused was wanted in a number of cases including murder, loot, extortion and the UP Police had announced a cash award of Rs 10,000 on him, Rai said, adding he was also wanted in some cases in Madhya Pradesh.
Ashu used to come to Indore for treatment of his finger, and on the very day of crime, he had altercation with the woman to whom he had paid Rs 1100 for entertainment at the lodge, he said, adding the accused allegedly strangulated her and fled.
