UP scorches under intense heat, Agra hottest at 46.1 deg C

The plains of Uttar Pradesh today continued to reel under scorching heat with mercury in Agra crossing the 46 degrees mark, making it the hottest place in the state.

According to the Met Department here, with weather remaining dry, the maximum temperature in Agra was recorded at 46.1 degrees Celsius even as mercury hovered about 44 degrees in several other districts too.

Day temperatures changed little across all divisions in the state. Mercury was appreciably above normal in Allahabad, Kanpur, Bareilly, Moradabad, Agra, Meerut divisions; above normal in Varanasi, Lucknow, Jhansi divisions, and was normal in the remaining divisions in the state, it added.
 

The Met office has forecast that weather would remain dry this week though dust storm/thunderstorm accompanied by squall was likely at some places tomorrow.
