"Senior Cabinet Minister Shivpal (Singh) Yadav had yesterday announced at a party convention that the government was considering to give jobs to party workers. This is undemocratic and unconstitutional too," BJP leader Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here.

A government does not belong to any party or religion, but the way the SP-led government is acting is unfair, Pathak said, adding that as per rules, one has to give an affidavit while joining a government job that he does not have any political affiliation.

BJP will strongly oppose any such move, he said.

"Ambulances provided under (Centrally-sponsored) NRHM are being used under the name of Samajwadi Swasthya Sewa, which was also an attempt to befool people," Pathak said, accusing the SP of misusing government machinery for political gains.

Meanwhile, the Congress also hit out at the Samajwadi Party-led government over the issue, and accused of of "betraying" people.

"There is a certain procedure which has to be followed for giving government job to any individual and making an announcement to this effect by a senior minister amounts to flouting that Constitutional procedure," Congress spokesman Maroof Khan said.

When contacted, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary declined to comment over the allegations.
