UP: Temps cross 40-degrees mark in many places

Temperatures in many places in Uttar Pradesh today crossed the 40-degrees mark with Allahabad and Banda being the hottest places in the state, the MeT department said.

State capital Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 40.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.9 degrees Celsius.

Allahabad and Banda recorded 44 degrees Celsius each, Varanasi 43.4 degrees Celsius, Sultanpur 43.2 degrees Celsius, Orai 43 degrees Celsius, Etawah and Jhansi 42.6 degrees Celsius each, Fatehgarh 42.2 degrees Celsius) and Rae Bareli 41.6 degree Celsius.

The temperature at Hamirpur was 41.2 degrees Celsius, Ballia 41 degrees Celsius, Basti and Najibabad 40.5 degrees Celsius each and Kanpur 40 degrees Celsius.
 

The MeT department has predicted rain or thunder showers at isolated places in the state and warned of thunderstorms accompanied by squall.
