Three members of a family were killed and four others seriously injured on Friday after their car collided with a sand-laden truck on the Saharanpur-Muzaffarnagar highway near Rohana village, about 10 km away from here, police said.
Kala (50), his wife Kamlesh (48) and their son Jawaharvir (25) were killed and four others, including three minors, were injured in the accident that took place in the early hours of Friday, the police said.
According to the incharge of Rohana police outpost, Sanjay Tyagi, the injured, identified as Tarun (6), Ramajagat (12), Prakash (15) and Mamta (24) were rushed to hospital in a serious condition.
Tyagi said the victims are residents of Moradabad. They were on their way to Saharanpur when the accident occurred.
Police said the car was badly damaged due to the impact of collision.
After being informed about the incident, a police team rushed to the accident site and started the rescue operation, Tyagi said.
