UP youth arrested for stealing cash from Jammu bank

A youth from Uttar Pradesh was today arrested for allegedly stealing Rs 49,000 from a nationalised bank here two days ago, police said.

On March 5, Rajiv Kumar of Muradbad in UP entered a branch of the Punjab National Bank at Trikuta Nagar belt here along with two accomplices Vijay Kumar and Santokh Kumar and snatched money from the cashier and immediately fled the scene on their two-wheelers, they said.

A case was registered in this regard.

Of the total stolen money, Rs 31,000 was recovered from Rajiv, they said.

Vijay Kumar and Santokh Kumar, also natives of Muradabad, are absconding. They were living in a rented accommodation in Bari Brahamana here.
 

A motorcycle and a scooter used in the crime were also seized from the accused, he said.

Rajiv has confessed to his involvement in several other theft cases in the state as well as outside involving property worth Rs lakhs of rupees, police said.
