BJP today held the UPA Government responsible for not conducting business in Parliament and said it is "a drag on the nation".

The government was responsible for "incomplete" and "non-productive" business in passing of bills and discussion over serious issues in Parliament, BJP National General Secretary P Muralidhar Rao said.

"The UPA and Prime Minister Mammohan Singh are a drag on the nation," he told reporters here.

On the demand for sacking of Railway Minister P K Bansal in the wake of arrest of his nephew in an alleged bribery scandal, he alleged that the Congress was the "fountainhead" of corruption, so no action would be taken against him.

He also said the UPA Government had not learnt lessons despite constitutional and statutory bodies raising questions at regular intervals about various scams in the last two years.

"The government is indulging in systematic destruction of independent institutions which are the checks and balances of the democratic system," he charged.

On the 2G spectrum scam, he alleged that the Joint Parliamentary Committee looking into the issue was being used as a 'cover up department'.

When asked about possible alliance BJP would be looking for in Tamil Nadu, he said, "It is too early to say anything now. But any party interested in unseating the Congress would be our natural allies."

Earlier, BJP workers led by Rao staged an agitation here highlighting alleged irregularities in 2G spectrum and coal allocations.

Later, they submitted a memorandum to Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah demanding the resignation of Law Minister Aswani Kumar over the issue of CBI report on coal allocation scam.
