Attacking the Centre for failing to protect the country's self-respect, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said that under UPA regime, the nation's pride was compromised after five Indian soldiers were killed in an attack by Pakistani troops in Poonch.

"Under Congress-led UPA regime, the country's self respect has lowered as Pakistani armymen recently killed Indian soldiers...Other small nations too have raised their head against India on several occasions," the Chief Minister said after inaugurating the state's newly-created 51st district Agar Malwa.

The government has failed to protect country's self-respect the way it should have done in such circumstances, Chouhan alleged.

"Time has come for the people to take a vow to make the country strong, self-reliant and glorious," Chouhan said.

Comparing growth achieved during 55 years of Congress rule in the state with that of BJP's ten-year rule, the Chief Minister said that the state has progressed five times more during his party's regime.

Chouhan listed his government's achievements in the field of providing food security, roads, power, zero per cent loans to farmers and other social welfare schemes on the occasion to prove that the situation has changed vastly especially on the front of road and power.

The Chief Minister said that since Congress has no issues against his government, it has started hitting him and his ministers below the belt.
