UPA publication, a "report card of failure" : Tripura CM

Giving his reaction to the completion of eight years by UPA government, Sarkar said the government had "plunged into brazen corruption" as a result of which the people of the country were facing "limitless sufferings".

"There are three types of ministers in the UPA government. The first type are those ministers who are in jail, the second type are those who have taken anticipatory bail to avoid being in jail and another type of ministers are those who are governing the country," he said.

Sarkar alleged that the economic growth rate had reduced to 6.1 percent from the targetted 9 percent and the prices of essential commodities had sky rocketed.

 

"In the last three years, prices of food grains rose to 10 percent. Is this success? Due to crisis in agriculture, the number of suicide of peasants are increasing day by day. In last one year in West Bengal alone, 52-55 peasants have committed suicide for not getting proper prices for their produce", he said.

"One after another, cases of corruptions are surfacing now. After 2G spectrum scam, now KG Basin scam has come to the fore where the production cost for generation of gas was increased to help a particular company. Parliament was rocked for passing the Lokpal Bill, but it was sent to the Select committee, which meant that it could not be passed in this session", he said.

The government, he said, has published a white paper on black money, but the names of the owners or the amount of black money were not mentioned, he added.
