The East Delhi Municipal Corporation today flagged off three new mobile dispensaries aiming at providing medical facilities to the unserved and uncovered areas of the city such as the slums, JJ clusters and congested colonies.
Delhi BJP Chief Satish Upadhyay flagged of the three new Mobile Medical Units (dispensaries) under Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Mobile Dispensary Yojna from the EDMC headquarters in Parpatganj here, officials said.
Mayor of East Delhi, Meenakshi said "large segment of East Delhi population belongs to lower strata of society and mostly live in villages, slums, JJ Clusters and unorganised congested colonies to whom medical facilities were not reaching."

She said at present 50 points are being covered per week with existing fleet of 5 mobile dispensaries but with addition of three more today, it will cover 90 points a week.
Speaking on the occasion Upadhyay said, "Mobile Medical Units will serve the poor and those who live in areas that is unserved and facilities are not available nearby their area."
He said that five allopathic mobile dispensaries were not sufficient to meet the demand of healthcare services to unserved areas of EDMC.
He further said EDMC should have a target that each of its wards have its own mobile dispensary to facilitate its citizens.
Leader of the House, Ram Narayan Dubey said each Mobile Medical Unit (dispensary) would have a doctor, pharmacist, and a dresser besides a driver and cleaner.
