UPCA confident of good show by its wards in IPL-V

As many as 12 players from the state, including the likes of Praveen Kumar, Piyush Chawla, Mohammad Kaif, R P Singh apart Raina are representing various franchisees this year.

While Raina will be in action for Chennai Super Kings, Praveen and Piyush will represent Kings XI Punjab. Kaif will be playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore and R P Singh will turn out for Mumbai Indians.

"12 players from Uttar Pradesh are playing for different teams in this year's IPL and most of them are members of the states Ranji team, which is a matter of pride for the Association," director of the UPCA, Jyoti Bajpai told PTI Basha.

 

Elated at the success of his boys in the past few years, the coach of the state cricket team, Gyanendra Pandey, said baring a couple of players all of them have played for UP, which is a matter of pride for me.

"Though I am hopeful that all our wards will do good in this years IPL, I am particularly expecting a great show from Raina, Chawla, RP, Kaif and Praveen, who have been a part of the state team since years," Pandey said.

He was also hopeful of a decent show by the upcoming players of the state like Tanmay Srivastava and Shalabh Srivastava. PTI ZIR SNK
