The Supreme Court's Special Commissioner on the Right to Food Case, Harsh Mander, today demanded the Rajasthan government to update the BPL lists so that only eligible candidates can get benefits of the food security.

"Many eligible candidates are not able to get benefit of the food security as their names are not included in the BPL lists," Mander told reporters here.

"It is a matter of concern that the lists are old and not updated," Mander said, adding that he met the Chief Secretary CS Rajan and other senior officials and expressed his concern over the matter.

Mander said the officers have assured him that the work would be done soon in this regard.

Expressing concern over the state of people from Saharia community, he said that malnutrition was common among them and the government should continue special package to the community.

Over the recent merger of 17,000 government schools in the state, Mander said that it was not an intelligent move and rather affected students of Saharia, Dalit, tribal and minority in rural parts of the state.

He said that the merger also deprived the students of these schools from midday meal.
