Press Trust of India Ghaziabad
Uttar Pradesh Political Pensions Minister Rajendra Chaudhary today directed the authorities to update the age and health-related data of all the freedom fighters of the district.

Chaudhary reviewed the pension-related matters of freedom fighters here and directed the Additional District Magistrate (E) Uday Singh to update the age and health-related data of all the freedom fighters of the district, an official release said.

Only four freedom fighters are alive in the district, it said.

A total number of 31 democratic fighters, arrested during emergency in the year 1975 under MISA (Maintenance of Internal Security Act) and DIR (Defence of India Rule), are being regularly paid pensions, and their amount is directly credited to their accounts, it said.

Chaudhary said that pension amount accruing to the freedom fighters should be credited directly in their pension accounts at the district treasury through e-payment without delay to avoid any inconvenience to them.

Freedom fighters should also be intimated immediately through SMS about credits and to adopt all measures, so that transparency can be ensured, he said.
