Uproar in Bihar assembly over Patna gangrape

RJD MLAs and MLCs raised anti-government slogans in the portico of both the houses before moving inside accusing Nitish Kumar government of trying to cover up the incidents.

As soon as the question hour ended in the assembly, RJD's Bhai Virendra and Samrat Choudhary moved an adjournment motion seeking a debate on the issue, but Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary rejected saying it was not not in keeping with the rules of the house.

This led the RJD MLAs to start shouting slogans against the government at the top of their voice and demanded that the state government make a detailed reply besides recommending a CBI enquiry into the incidents.

 

As the Speaker went on saying that the members could raise the issue through call attention notice and place their demands, but the agitated members did not not relent.

Later Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav said RJD members should have raised the issue in other form and the state government was ready for making a reply.

Lone CPI MLA Awadhesh Rai also joined the RJD colleagues supporting the demand for a CBI probe.

The state legislative council too witnessed a similar scene when Deputy Chairman Salim Pervej rejected the adjournment notice of the RJD leader Gulam Gaus and others. Gaus asked that the state govenment to make a statement on the gangrape issue soon.

Gaus also demanded a CBI probe into the gangrape case. Congress members including Jyoti also supported Gaus and other RJD colleagues.

After Pervej rejected the call attention notice of Gaus, the house plunged into pandemonium with the opposition members started shouting anti government slogans.

State Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh who was present in the house said the state governmen was ready for a detail reply on the gangrape case and the chair should fixed an appropriate time and date for it.

The house was later adjourned for lunch recess.
